Fishing
In Nuorgam the salmon plays an important role in summer – we are in the middle of the best catch area of the Teno River’s salmon valley. Right off our riverbank a 22 kg salmon was caught! And so far the largest salmon a 31.5 kg monster was taken in Alaköngäs. This is a legendary place that fisherman, no matter where they are from, are crazy about.

visitors to the municipality can fish between 1.6.-20.8. the largest fish are usually caught in August at dawn or dusk!
The fishing day starts at 7:00 PM and the fishing week is from Monday at 7:00 PM until Sunday at 7:00 PM

Fishing license price list:
fishing from shore 25€/day
fishing from a boat 40€/day (may also fish from shore)
family license 5€ /day ( = spouse and children under 16 years of age)

· Shore fishing areas: In the Inarijoki River area above Matinkögäs, the Skeitsham River, Martinköngäs, Yläkögäs, and Alaköngäs
· The Alaköngäs shore fishing area is divided into two parts, from the end of the rapids and 600 m upstream is designated for fly-fishing only, without a casting weight
· The lure fishing area is in the upper stretches of the Alaköngäs rapids
The Boratbocka fly-fishing area is below the Alakögäs rapids, a license is valid for one night of fishing between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. With this license you are entitled to fish from shore at the above mentioned times following the general fishing rules and regulations. This area is marked with blue stones on the shore.
