The Nuorgam region is unique in Finland. In no other place is it as easy to get to a treeless mountain village. Although the journey may feel long, this is the only place to find such unique scenery and atmosphere. In Nuorgam an artist can experience the 7 important seasons of the year
· The spring break-up; when the ice breaks-up on the Teno river and the mountain avens poke their blossom through the snow!
· The Midsummer’s sun – the night-less night (16.5. – 27.7.) is the most delicate time of the year. The mysterious light in the evenings, at night and in the early morning is guaranteed to inspire painters and photographers alike!
· The beautiful autumn foliage, when the scenery is bathed in a myriad of vivid colours.
· The real autumn, when you feel the coming of winter in the air, the days are shorter and the dark ground challenges the artist.
· The first blanket of snow, which adds a light to the scenery when the sun is not shining.
· The sun’s first rays of light; summer is on its way, believe it or not! This is the time when nature achieves its most beautiful colours. Let your paints do the speaking!
· Spring-winter – this is too difficult to explain, you must experience it yourself. The hard crust on the snow is so bright that the use of sunglasses is a necessity. During this time of year it is possible to be active 24-hous a day; drive to the highest point of the Pulmankijärvi road and paint the scenery before you!
